Pink VS Burgundy

I am a fan of cosmetics. You can see that in my previous posts. But 2011, my focus were mostly on lip colors. I fell inlove with lipsticks that I started buying one almost every month. I started with a light pink color then went bolder to hot pink ones. Of course the red was still a classic so I also bought one. I also have neutral colors and just one burgundy color. I’m not really brand conscious but of course I want something that also takes care of my lips. I have lipsticks from famous brands such as NYX, Revlon, Avon, Maybeline and some from not so popular brands like Careline and Hema.

Pink lips are so in the past 2011. It’s not a loud color, it’s girly and very pretty thus it can be used everyday, anytime, anywhere.

In the pictures below, I’m wearing NYX’ Hot Pink.

Burgundy lips also became quite popular by 2011 because of the Vampy looks (thanks a lot, Twilight). Actresses like Leighton Meester, Michelle Trachtenberg and Vanessa Hudgens rock the look!

Below I’m wearing Revlon’s Raspberry Rush.

So what do you like more, pink or burgundy? If you ask me, I like them both!

Well, that’s it for now. Time for me to go out, light a lantern, wish for something nice and jump as hard as I could so I could get taller.

P.S. I was busy the whole of December but I promise to make more blogs this 2012! X)

Soon I’ll be posting more of my lipstick collection. Happy 2012 Everyone!

Cosmetics Addiction: The Not-Me Look

Hello Guys! I was so bored last night, i had to do something. I was checking out youtube videos when i ran into the make up tutorials of Promise Phan. She’s really good, maybe even better than her sister-in-law, Michelle Phan. And as i was watching some of her videos, I ran into her Celebrity Make Up Tutorials and stopped when i saw this…

Damn. It looks so good. I mean, for me, it doesn’t really look like Kate Middleton but it surely doesn’t look like Promise. I was so amazed that i told myself i had to do it. And so I did something like that. My goal: not to look like me at all.

Amazing what make-up can do, right? I just hope you’ll all like it ’cause i really loved it. I mean i’m proud of what i did. Sorry for the bad quality of the picture. I just took it with my webcam.

So, what do you think? Do i look like not myself? :)

Cosmetics Addiction: Graduation

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”-  Eleanor Roosevelt

Graduation is the end of our school days in the school where you graduated. Just the school days. Because if you graduated in high school, there’s still college. But if you graduated in college, real life begins. And in real life, there are no more teachers to tell you that your answer is wrong or that you are correct. No more grades or classroom. No more physical education classes where in you have to embarrass yourself infront of many people. School is over, life begins. That’s how important graduation is.

My niece just graduated from high school. She is now in Davao to pursue her college dreams. As she wanted to be one of the most beautiful during the ceremony, she asked me to do her make-up. And viola:

Sorry for not having a clear picture. I forgot to ask her for some pictures. If you look closely, you could see the flaw. A major thing I forgot. The bottom part of her eyes! I was planning to use a white or peach eyebrow pencil but I totally forgot that’s why she looks sleepy. Good thing she still looked pretty.

A very important person also graduated this year, my ever beautiful cousin. She called me a week before her graduation and ORDERED me to do her make-up. I got excited too so I did and the picture is below.

As you can see, I did the same look for her and my niece. Hers looked perfect since I promised not to forget anything anymore. HAHA.

The things I used for them are the following:

  1. Skin White Cream as make up base
  2. Sansan Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Myra E Compact Powder to set the foundation (Any loose powder will do)
  5. Hema Eyeshadow Set
  6. Light Colored Eyebrow Pencil for the bottom part of the eyes
  7. 16 Mink Clinique Eyebrow Pencil for the eyebrows
  8. Maybeline Blush
  9. Ever Bilena Matte Pink plus a local brand orange colored lipstick

You can try the look or do your own version. Whatever. Just enjoy. Have fun! J

Cosmetics Addiction: First Works

I would like to share to everyone some of my first works. Hey, don’t be rude people. This was my FIRST TIME being a makeup artist in a “photo shoot” with my cousins. Actually, this was also their first photo shoot. We were all first timers so yeah. You might want to check out their works at facebook, MAKLY Digital Photography. Anyways, all cosmetic brands used here are local and can be bought anywhere in the market. So you can also try doing this at home and just feel the colors.

This is my niece. See how “novice” I really am. I wanted it to be playful and young. I used two shades of blue for the eyeshadows. The lighter one must be over-exaggerated so you might want to do that first. The darker color is concentrated in the eyelids. I used a Matte Pink from Ever Bilena for her lips. I think this accentuates the blue color in her eyes.

This is my cousin, pretty isn’t she? Everyone thinks she has Mexican or American in her blood but we really don’t know. What we are sure is Chinese blood runs in her veins. Anyways, I wanted her beauty to come out naturally. What’s more natural than the color green, right? I used two shades of green for her eyes. Like what I did before with my niece, the lighter shade was exaggerated while the darker is concentrated within the lids. I used light natural-colored lipstick on her.

Looks familiar? Yes that’s the one in the header portion of my blog. And yes, that’s me. I wanted mine to be a bit darker so I used dark eyeshadows for my eyes. Both are black, it’s just that the other shade has glitters on it. I used a red Revlon lipstick for my lips to make it sexier. I figured that since my outfit is shaded red, I could use some red on my lips too. I also wanted to highlight my asset. HAHA. Since I don’t have the perfect nose, I decided that I should draw the attention towards my full lips.

That’s it. More make-up thingies to come soon. Enjoy and explore the beauty of cosmetics :)

Cosmetics Addiction: Just the beginning

According to Wikipedia, cosmetics are substances used to enhance the appearance or odor of the human body. These include skin-care creamslotionspowdersperfumeslipsticks, fingernail and toe nail polisheye and facial makeup, towelettes, permanent waves, colored contact lenseshair colors, hair sprays and gelsdeodorantshand sanitizer, baby products, bath oils, bubble bathsbath saltsbutters and many other types of products.

“The most beautiful makeup of a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy.” — Yves Saint-Laurent

“Make-up” is a subset of cosmetics. According to a certain website, U.S. women spend some $7 billion a year, or an average of about $100 each, on cosmetics and beauty products. That’s how powerful “make-up” in our society today is. More and more women use beauty products. From tweens to late 80s, women use cosmetics for various reasons but mainly, of course, for beauty.

When you ask women why they wear make-up, they would usually say that they want to become prettier or sexier or hotter. I guess we have the media to blame for that very superficial answer. But really, there’s nothing wrong with that. We have all the right to do whatever we want to ourselves especially if it makes us happy.

We have cosmetics to save our bad and stressful day, to make us beautiful anytime anywhere and to cover up those icky acne marks and pimples. Cosmetics, believe it or not guys, is a savior. It can also make us (cosmetic addicts) smile. Sometimes, it takes the sadness away. It helps us feel important and beautiful no matter what.

I have been addicted to make-up since I started watching Michelle Phan’s videos. It was like discovering a whole new world of art. It was beauty and talented combined. It was just amazing. And so I started buying and collecting make-up, fom big brands like Maybeline to cheap ones like Careline.

I was not really into doing and wearing make up until my Tita from Belgium gave me a Clinique collection. I have the mascara, eyeshadow set, make up remover and a special box where you can put your face powder. She also included some Euro branded sets and a L’oreal brush set. She gave me this as a gift for my graduation. I was ecstatic! I can’t believe I own such expensive things. It challenged me to discover the art of make-up.

This is a picture of my first ever try on doing my own make-up. I actually can’t remember what I used but the foundation from Mary Kay, that I will never forget. It was really nice and smooth in the face. I thought I would experience some allergic reactions but I didn’t (I have a really sensitive skin). I was so happy after doing this. I became much happier when my batchmates told me that my look was from an expensive salon and that my make-up was really good.

Whew! I guess I found my passion. And my passion is in cosmetics. I guess Yves Saint-Laurent was right after all.
